Confused Girl Florida Adventure

“Close to perfect” and “far from normal” is the motto for Key West but I actually think it applies to all of Florida!

I was hosted by the stunning Casa Monica Resort & Spa. Opened in 1888 Casa Monica is one of the oldest hotels in the country and is even listed in the “Historic Hotels of America”. What a historic treasure! Not only is there a great story behind this hotel, it is exquisite as well. My friend and I stayed here for a night while touring Saint Augustine. Casa Monica is in a central location close to all the tours, ocean and historical sites so it’s very easy to just walk everywhere. The pool area is elegant and a great place to take a little swim and cool off. We also loved their restaurant Costa Brava which is inside the hotel. We had the most delicious ceviche and muscles!

Continuing our adventure, we flew from Jacksonville to Miami, rented a car and did the epic drive to Key West. This was my first time in Key West and what an experience! We saw the most beautiful sunset driving into the island. Driving on bridges surrounded by water and stopping at funky beach venues was the only way to start our Key West adventure. ⁣

We were so happy to finally arrive at the most beautiful hotel on the island with so much Key West charm Ocean Key Resort & Spa. The resort is located next to iconic Mallory Square where you can see the best sunsets on the island! My friend and I were able to enjoy the sunset right from our balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. What a dream! Our room was a junior suite with the most comfortable bed. We also had a fabulous jacuzzi tub in the room. Inside the hotel is the delicious restaurant Hot Tin Roof. We enjoyed breakfast there overlooking the ocean and a wonderful dinner. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict and Grouper Fish appetizer. The hotel also has a fabulous pool bar and pier bar where they play live music throughout the day. What a luxurious fun place to stay that is also in walking distance to all the historical sites. I can’t wait to go back and take my mom!

Besides roaming around the charming old town and touring Ernest Hemingway’s home, two  activities that are a must do when in Key West is a boat charter tour with Dream Catcher Charters and a jet ski tour with Barefoot Billy’s. The private boat tour with Dream Catcher Charters was one of the most beautiful sunset experiences I have ever had! A big thank you to Captain Steve and Gennifer for setting this up for us. This private boat tour with Captain Steve touched our hearts in a way that doesn’t always happen. I would have to say it was a combination of being on the water, relaxing at the sandbar, being in great company and then taking in the most incredible sunset. We both felt like our spirits had been cleared and recharged.⁣ Our Barefoot Billy’s jet ski tour was also a great way to see the island by water. Our guide, Kory was very knowledgeable about the area and let us roam loose when we got to the golf. Everything about this trip was divine synchronicity and adventure.

I can confirm their motto is correct. Key West is definitely “close to perfect” and “far from normal”!
