We all struggle with that negative voice in our head. Here are some tools to shut the little guy up ๐Ÿ˜‰

“It takes but one positive thought when given a chance to survive and thrive to overpower an entire army of negative thoughts.”

Another great video, I’ve actually had this same problem but through music
and my love for recreational swimming I’ve found a way to redirect all my
negative thoughts. Its comforting to know I’m not the only person who has
this problem. I really like the content of your videos, it’s just address
issues that we all face everyday but deny to talk about. Cant wait till the
    next vlog

I, like you, also use the mindfulness techniques of focusing on breath and
individual body parts to calm my thoughts down when they begin to become
overwhelming… did it last night actually. Probably could stand to do it
    more often than I do.

Feel free to be in goofy moods when you make a video; I like it ๐Ÿ™‚

there maybe such that there are conversation thoughts in ones head (almost
like someone else reply-ing). this can often not be the case so at any rate
dont reply to thoughts. dont engage in conversation.. maybe with very
crucial things. such as if they tell something u can verify yourself
easily.. and if it is ok to converse.

I think what we’re really talking about here are *aberrated* thoughts.
Thoughts that are negative, that we believe are good, even though they make
    us feel bad.

Such as you pointed out that comparing yourself to other people, is
possibly rooted in a positive desire, even though it causes a negative
emotion. The thoughts repeat themselves because they are rooted in that
strong positive desire in something good about yourself. It’s not that
negative comparison that is nagging you, but rather your desire to bring
the underlying good thought and emotion to fruition.

That’s a good example of how happiness and love should *not* be contingent
on circumstances. We shouldn’t wait for the circumstances to be right, so
that it will make us happy. We should feel joy and love from the start.
Then, as the Law of Attraction dictates, good things *will* happen, that
align with our consistent state of being.

The meaning of life *is* happiness. Although as social beings, that
translates into *love.* Love of yourself, of others. It’s the joy of
*sharing* happiness. As The Beetles once sung, “Love, love. Love is all you
    need.”

Joy and love also should not be measured. I think when you think and act
with joy, you’ll find you don’t need a *lot* of happiness. That’s the
problem I think with a lot of people, they need great heights of joy and
love to “make up” for all the negative emotions and experiences in the
    interim.

Except the truth is, when joy dictates your thoughts and actions, you’re
not really paying attention to the negative, undesirable experiences. Which
just goes to prove, that *everything contrary to happiness is irrelevant.*
    It just doesn’t matter.

I think this is particularly appropriate as a work ethic. Whenever I do
something, no matter how terrible the job, I do it with pride and I find a
way to make it enjoyable. It’s the same principle behind how children
“play”. They use their imagination, even when they have very little to work
with. Because they have a very strong desire to be happy.

Thank you for the reminder… it’s so easy to fall away from the good
things you said. These past couple weeks have been rough..

I had this boss five years ago who saw how negative I could become and gave
me one of the best pieces of advice. Learn to identify the negative thought
at early as possible and then find something to give thanks for, like you
said, to god, God, the universe, yourself.

A couple years before that I learned about the phenomenon that when you
complain (complaining being a major source of negative thinking) about
someone else, you are almost certainly complaining about yourself. I saw
two completely different tv shows, Huff and Stargate Atlantis, one in
syndication, one brand new, talk about that idea in the same week…
started paying attention to my complaints, and started seeing what I needed
    to change.

    Life’s weirdness is awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚
